RFID Sensing Enclosure

Project Description

During my first UROP one of my initial assignments was to design an enclosure for them to use in gas flow chemical sensing with RFID tags. There were a couple of key considerations: the need to be airtight so that gas would flow through attached hoses and not leak out, the ability to change the tag inside, and the ability to consistently measure readings from the tag using different antennas. Another consideration was that any metal parts would interact with the radio waves and disturb the measurment so the apparatus had to be made entirely from plastic. Using these guidelines and different feature requests from my supervisor, Joseph Azzarelli, I designed and 3D printed the assembly seen here.
